Main Road Upgrading – Holiday Notice Dec 2010

December 15, 2010

• Construction works on Main Road will cease for the holiday season from 15th December 2010 and will resume on 11th January 2011. Near Capri Road, rock breaking will continue from 20th to 23rd December 2010 to enable the contractor to make up some lost time.
• Main Road from St James Road to Kalk Bay has been converted to a one-way in a southerly direction and will remain a one-way during the holiday season. Main Road is open and free flowing without any delays to the south. Motorists traveling in a southerly direction are encouraged to use Main Road to avoid delays on Boyes Drive.
• Ample parking is available along Main Road from Muizenberg to Kalk Bay. Additional parking bays have been demarcated on both sides along Main Road in the Kalk Bay precinct.
• On the section under construction, excavations will be closed and portions of the works will be made available for additional parking.
• Site areas will be cleaned and tidied for the holidays.
• Remember that all traffic along Main Road is being monitored by CCTV Cameras so think twice before attempting to break the law!
