Main Road holiday update

Please be advised that the following will be in operation during the December 2011 break :

1. Main Road will be open to 2 way traffic (Southbound and Northbound) from Rouxville Road from 15th December 2011.

2. The incomplete sections will be made usable for parking during the holiday period. Any asphalt work that is not complete by today, will be finalised in January 2012 and should take approximately three days to complete.

3. The section from Rouxville Road up to just south of Colyn Road will be made available for parking and dedicated line markings will indicate parking bays.

4. Rouxville Road residents to exit in a northerly direction from Rosmead Road, as exit at Rouxville Road will only be in a southerly direction.

5. The area between Cape to Cuba and the Night Haven will be available for parking (on gravel surface).

6. All side roads will have access to the Main Road.

7. Clean-up will continue into the week of 19th December 2011.

8. Limited works will occur early next week however this will be non-invasive.

9. On 15 January 2012, works will commence in Section E and continue through the CBD. Note that the Contractor has committed to minimising disruption to businesses wherever possible.

The project team thanks all residents in the Kalk Bay CBD for their patience during this trying time and wish them everything of the best over the Festive Season.

Temporary closure of Colyn Rd on Tuesday 13 December

A notice from the road builders:

Please be advised that Colyn Road will again be closed to vehicular traffic on Tuesday 13 December between the hours of 08:00 and 20:00. This is to allow us to complete the manholes and road layer works in the intersection with Main Road. This work was scheduled to be completed on Saturday but due to unforeseen circumstances we were unfortunately not able to do so.

Main Road upgrading – Disrupted access of some properties along Main Road

Please be advised that on Friday morning, 2nd December 2011, the Contractor will be surfacing the road between Leighton Road and Quarterdeck Road. This will affect access to properties along this section for approximately 4 to 5 hours to allow the Contractor to remove the temporary ramps and prepare the area for laying the asphalt base.

On Monday 5th December 2011 the Contractor will be carrying out a similar operation between Quarterdeck Road and Dalebrook Road, followed by the section between Dalebrook and Rouxville Road subject to the completion of the underground services. This will affect access to properties along this section for a similar period of 4 to 5 hours.

The Contractor will undertake as far as possible to provide access during this time and will try to minimise disruption as much as possible.
